Incorporating, among others, the towns of Henley-on-Thames, Didcot and Wallingford, South Oxfordshire is a very popular area of Oxfordshire. There are great transport links to London with trains from Didcot Parkway to London Paddington and good access to the M4.

There are plentiful job opportunities in the region, with the thriving Milton Park and Culham Science Park both found here. The supply of skilled and knowledgeable labour stemming from the city’s University has led to many “cluster cells” with lots of start-up business in the science and technology sectors.

The river Thames runs through South Oxfordshire and as a result towns and villages are more sparsely populated to minimise flooding risk. There are some wonderfully quaint villages including Dorchester-on-Thames, Great Milton and Childrey which offer true country living within easy reach of both Oxford and London.

Housing in many of the towns and villages offer charm and character with all the associated benefits of being outside of a major city like parking, large gardens and peace and quiet. However, there has been some development in and around some of the towns to offer modern living and to try and meet the growing housing needs of the county.
